Incredible atmosphere and service. We love the bread!! Then we had the crispy oysters were which a big hit and the pumpkin gnocchi and squid ink shrimp pasta! Everything was cooked well and delicious. We can't wait to return!
Wonderful flavors, great atmosphere and the service was great, I don't mind spending more for a truly good dining experience which Kindred was, will be going back for sure!
Dined at Kindred a couple of times while visiting Davidson this week - two top main room reservation 7:30 Saturday and 6ish at the bar on Thursday. Saturday was busy but not rushed, the room was lively but not loud and the playlist was really good! We started with the milk bread (soft and delicious), grandfathers pickles (crispy and delicious), the crispy oysters (delicate and delicious) and a couple glasses of Grüner Veltliner wine (crisp and delicious). Could've (should've) stopped there. The main plates were... okay. The squid ink conchiglie was heavy and bland and the seasoning on the seared scallops pasta tasted...I don't know...stale? But, the waitstaff, service, ambiance and appetizers were so good we thought we'd try again on... ...Thursday we sat at the bar. We had the old fashioned-like specialty cocktail (depth and delicious) and more of the Grüner Veltliner wine (still crisp and delicious). The bar/dining room filled up, the ambiance was comfortable and the playlist was, again, really good! This time the milk bread was overbaked (not soft and delicious), we ordered the little gem lettuces (full of flavor and texture and delicious), the wagyu beef tartare (just okay) and the sweet potato gnocchi (light, flavorful and delicious). Service at the bar... uninspired. No desert this time either (but next time that milk bread cinnamon roll for sure)! Overall, Kindred is a very good restaurant that sometimes... just misses.
I recently dined at Kindred in Davidson, and it was an unforgettable experience. The mushroom pasta was rich and flavorful, with perfectly cooked pasta and a deep, earthy sauce that was simply delicious. The milk bread, soft and slightly sweet, was a standout--light, airy, and addictive. To top it off, we enjoyed a decadent chocolate birthday cake that was the perfect end to the meal, with layers of rich chocolate that melted in your mouth. Kindred offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, paired with dishes that are thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. It's a must-visit if you're in Davidson.
The vibes here are immaculate. Went for a girls dinner on a Saturday night. The food and service were both great. You seriously can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
We loved everything about this sweet little restaurant located in the town of Davidson near Lake Norman. The service was incredible! They offer new utensils throughout your dining experience. The milk bread is phenomenal! It's served hot and it stays like that until it's gone. The ribeye was mouth watering. Every bite of everything we ordered was memorable and delightful. We look forward to our next visit.
Yummy! But quite pricey The pasta was really good! Loved the squid ink pasta and the garlic pasta. Very cute decor and great service. Good drinks
Whenever my wife and/or I fly into Charlotte Airport we stop in Davidson and have dinner at Kindred Restaurant. It is fabulous. We like sitting at the bar for dinner. The bar tenders are friendly and entertaining and the wait staff is efficient and professional. Last week we shared the Wagyu Beef Tartare. (I guess this is ultimate in cIt was fabulous! I had the Black Garlic Tagliatelle, which was equally delicious. My wife had Soft Shell Crap, which she raved about. For dessert we had the Milkbread Pudding, which was a great finish to a wonderful dinner. I highly recommend making a trip to or a detour to Davidson and eat at Kindred, you will not be disappointed. I also recommend making a reservation or calling ahead. The staff is very accommodating and will make every attempt to find space for you.
Our visit to Kindred, a small and charming restaurant in downtown Davidson, left us with mixed feelings. Touted as one of the top culinary spots near Charlotte and a James Beard nominee, we had high expectations, but the overall experience didn't quite match the accolades. Starting with the positive, the ambiance at Kindred was undeniably charming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was exceptional, with a bartender who went above and beyond to craft a specialty drink tailored to our preferences. However, when it comes to the culinary aspect, the experience took a dip. Almost everything on the menu seemed to carry an excess of salt, from the milk bread to the oysters, leaving us reaching for water throughout the meal. Despite being eager to enjoy the oysters, they turned out overly salty, even with the creme fraiche sauce. The Costata Romanesco Squash Salad and the Wagyu Beef Tartare were the highlights of our meal, showcasing the kitchen's ability to create well-executed dishes. Unfortunately, the special fish dish for the main course fell short of expectations, landing in the realm of average at best. The chocolate birthday cake for dessert offered a sweet note to end the meal, but it wasn't enough to salvage the overall impression, especially considering the New York City prices in a Davidson setting. While Kindred excels in creating a pleasant ambiance and delivering outstanding service, the food's inconsistent quality, particularly the excessive saltiness, left us with reservations. While it may be a good place to explore for fine dining, the culinary experience, especially given the James Beard nominee status, did not meet the standards we expected. Overall, Kindred falls short of being a compelling choice for those seeking a truly exceptional dining experience in the Davidson area.
My friend's and I had a wonderful dinner at Kindred! The only downside was we were seated outside and it was very chilly and they didn't have any heaters out. It also started to sprinkle as well, which I guess is a risk you take here if you can only get an outdoor reservations. They did bring out blankets which was nice. I had heard a ton about the milk bread they give to every table and it did not disappoint. It was super tasty and I loved the butter as well. The ribeye was also a table favorite along with the crudo. Can't go wrong with the squid ink pasta either. We way over ordered and had enough for dinner the next night as well. Get the chocolate birthday cake, it was amazing! Overall, the food is delicious, just buyer beware on what table you book.
